Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us. Pray that the word of the Lord may run freely and be given glory, just as it is among you.
Pray also that we may be rescued from unreasonable and wicked men. For not everyone has faith.
But the Lord is faithful. He will make you strong and keep you from evil.
And we are confident in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will keep doing the things we command you.
May the Lord guide your hearts into the love of God, and into patient waiting for Christ.
Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: keep away from every brother who lives in a disorderly way, and not by the teaching he received from us.
For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not disorderly when we were among you.
We did not eat anyone's bread without paying for it. Instead we worked hard, struggling night and day, so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
It was not that we had no right to such help. We did it to give you an example to follow.
For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: if anyone will not work, he must not eat either.
For we hear that some among you are living in a disorderly way. They do no work at all, but meddle in other people's business.
Now to people like that we give this command and this urging by our Lord Jesus Christ: work quietly, and eat your own bread.
But you, brothers and sisters, do not grow tired of doing good.
If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of that man. Do not keep company with him, so that he may be ashamed.
Yet do not treat him as an enemy. Warn him as a brother.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.
This greeting is from Paul, in my own handwriting. It is the mark in every letter of mine. This is how I write.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. «The second letter to the Thessalonians was written from Athens.»
