1 Timothy 1 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 1 Timothy Chapter 1 Summary

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God's command, addresses Timothy his true child in faith, urging him to remain at Ephesus to charge certain persons not to teach different doctrines or occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies that promote speculation rather than stewardship in faith. He affirms the law's goodness when used lawfully (for lawless, ungodly, murderers, and similar sinners), recounts his own conversion from blasphemer and persecutor to one who obtained mercy as an example of Christ's longsuffering, and reminds Timothy of the prophecies leading to his commission to wage good warfare.
