MountainThe Mount of Olives is a mountain ridge east of Jerusalem with profound significance in Jesus' life. He often went there to pray, delivered the Olivet Discourse about end times, and spent his last night in the Garden of Gethsemane at its base. Jesus ascended to heaven from this mountain, and Zechariah prophesied that the Messiah would return there.

Mount SinaiMount Sinai, also called Mount Horeb, is where God gave Moses the Ten Commandments and established the covenant with Israel. The mountain was covered with fire, smoke, and thunder when God descended upon it. Moses spent 40 days on the mountain receiving the Law. Centuries later, the prophet Elijah fled to this same mountain and encountered God in a still, small voice.
Mount TaborMount Tabor is a prominent mountain in the Jezreel Valley where Deborah and Barak gathered troops to defeat Sisera's army during the period of the Judges. This strategic location served as a gathering point for the tribes of Israel and is traditionally associated with the Transfiguration of Jesus, though the Gospels do not specify the exact mountain.
Mount ZionMount Zion originally referred to the fortified hill that David captured from the Jebusites, making it the City of David. New JerusalemThe New Jerusalem is the heavenly city that descends from God at the end of time, described in Revelation 21-22. It represents the ultimate fulfillment of God's plan for humanity - a perfect dwelling place where God lives among His people forever. The city has twelve gates named for the twelve tribes of Israel and twelve foundations bearing the names of the twelve apostles. Its streets are gold, its gates are pearls, and there is no need for sun or moon because the glory of God illuminates it. There is no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
NinevehNineveh was the capital of the Assyrian Empire, known for its cruelty and wickedness. God sent the prophet Jonah to preach repentance to this city. When Jonah finally delivered God's message, the entire city - from the king to the animals - fasted and repented, and God spared the city. Later, the prophet Nahum prophesied Nineveh's destruction, which came in 612 BC.
PatmosPatmos is a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea where the apostle John received the prophetic visions recorded in the book of Revelation. John was exiled to this rocky island around 95 AD during the persecution under Roman Emperor Domitian. It was here that Christ appeared to John in glory and revealed the apocalyptic prophecies concerning the end times and the ultimate victory of God's kingdom.
PenielPeniel (also Penuel), meaning "face of God," was the place where Jacob wrestled with a mysterious man (often understood as God) throughout the night. Jacob received a blessing and a new name - Israel. He named the place Peniel because he had seen God face to face.
PersiaPersia (modern Iran) was a major empire that conquered Babylon and allowed the Jews to return to Jerusalem. King Cyrus issued the decree permitting the temple's reconstruction. The books of Esther and Daniel are set partly in the Persian court. Nehemiah served as cupbearer to the Persian king Artaxerxes before returning to rebuild Jerusalem's walls.
PhilippiPhilippi was a Roman colony in Macedonia where Paul established the first church in Europe. Lydia, a seller of purple, was his first convert there. Paul and Silas were imprisoned here but miraculously freed by an earthquake, leading to the jailer's conversion. Paul later wrote his joyful letter to the Philippians from prison.
Plains of MoabThe Plains of Moab was the area east of the Jordan River where Israel camped before entering the Promised Land. Here Moses delivered his final addresses (Deuteronomy), and here he died and was buried by God. Joshua prepared the people for the conquest from this location.
RamahRamah (also Ramathaim-zophim) was the hometown of Samuel the prophet. He lived here, judged Israel from here, and was buried here. It was a center for the prophets and the school of prophets. Saul first met Samuel here when searching for his father's donkeys.
