Hannah was a devout woman who was barren and deeply distressed. She prayed fervently at the tabernacle in Shiloh, vowing to dedicate her child to God. God answered her prayer, and she gave birth to Samuel, whom she dedicated to serve at the tabernacle. Her prayer of thanksgiving is one of the great hymns of Scripture.
