Canaan

Isaac is weaned, and Abraham holds a great feast. Sarah sees Ishmael mocking Isaac and demands that Hagar and Ishmael be sent away. God confirms to Abraham that Isaac is the son through whom his covenant will continue.

Mount Moriah

God tests Abraham by commanding him to sacrifice Isaac. Father and son journey to Mount Moriah, where Isaac carries the wood for the offering. At the last moment, God provides a ram as a substitute, sparing Isaac's life.

Hebron

Sarah dies at the age of 127 in Hebron. Abraham purchases the cave of Machpelah to bury her. Isaac mourns the loss of his mother, creating a void that would later be filled by his wife Rebekah.

Abraham sends his servant to find a wife for Isaac from his relatives in Mesopotamia. Through divine guidance, the servant finds Rebekah at a well. She returns and becomes Isaac's wife. Isaac loves her and is comforted after his mother's death.

Canaan

After 20 years of marriage and Isaac's prayers for his barren wife, Rebekah gives birth to twins. Esau emerges first, red and hairy, while Jacob follows grasping his brother's heel.

Abraham dies at 175 years old. Isaac and Ishmael come together to bury their father in the cave of Machpelah alongside Sarah. Isaac inherits everything Abraham possessed and receives the covenant promises.

Gerar

A famine strikes the land, and Isaac goes to Gerar. God appears to him, confirming the covenant promises. Isaac sows in the land and reaps a hundredfold, becoming very wealthy despite conflicts over wells.

Canaan

In his old age, blind Isaac intends to bless Esau. Through Rebekah's scheme, Jacob deceives his father and receives the primary blessing. When Esau arrives, Isaac confirms Jacob's blessing while giving Esau a lesser blessing.

Isaac dies at the age of 180, having lived longer than both Abraham and Jacob. He is buried by both his sons, Jacob and Esau, in the cave of Machpelah.
