Adam

God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, making him a living being. Adam was created in the image and likeness of God, distinct from all other creatures.

God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. He was given permission to eat from any tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

God brought all the animals and birds to Adam to see what he would name them. Whatever Adam called each living creature became its name. Through this process, Adam discovered that no suitable helper was found for him.

God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs, and fashioned it into a woman. Upon seeing her, Adam declared she was bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh.

The serpent deceived Eve into eating fruit from the forbidden tree, and she gave some to Adam who was with her. Their eyes were opened, they realized they were naked, and they hid from God.

God pronounced judgments upon the serpent, Eve, and Adam. Adam was cursed to toil painfully for food until he returned to the dust. God clothed them with animal skins and banished them from Eden.

Adam knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain. She later gave birth to Abel. Cain became a farmer while Abel became a shepherd, but tragedy struck when Cain murdered Abel out of jealousy.

Adam lived a total of 930 years before he died, fulfilling God's warning that eating from the forbidden tree would bring death. During his long life, he fathered Seth and other sons and daughters.
