The annunciation LUK 1:26
Gabriel is sent to a town in Galilee nobody expects anything from, to a girl who is engaged and not yet married. The greeting troubles her before the message does. She is told she will bear a son whose kingdom will have no end, and she asks the one practical question there is. The answer is not an explanation but a promise, and she replies: let it be to me according to your word.
The passage
LUK 1:26 · Read the passage24And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,
25Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on {me}, to take away my reproach among men.
26And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name {was} Mary.
28And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, {thou that art} highly favoured, the Lord {is} with thee: blessed {art} thou among women. {highly...: or, graciously accepted, or, of much grace}
29And when she saw {him}, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
The place

Nazareth is the town in Galilee where Jesus grew up and spent most of his life before his public ministry. It was a small, obscure village in ancient times, which led Nathanael to ask "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary here to announce she would give birth to the Son of God. Jesus was known as "Jesus of Nazareth" throughout his ministry.
