Abednego (Hebrew name Azariah) was one of the three young Jewish nobles taken to Babylon with Daniel. He with Shadrach and Meshach demonstrated unshakeable faith by refusing to worship the golden image, and God protected them in the fiery furnace.

When the three friends were thrown into the furnace, a fourth figure appeared. God doesn't always prevent the fire, but He is present in it. Abednego discovered that God's presence matters more than deliverance from trials.
