Zarephath

God sent Elijah to Zarephath for several reasons: (1) to hide him in the last place his enemies would look—Jezebel's homeland; (2) to demonstrate that God cares for all people, not just Israel; (3) to find someone with genuine faith, which this widow showed despite being a Gentile. Jesus pointed out that many widows existed in Israel during the famine, but Elijah was sent only to this foreigner—a rebuke to Israel's unbelief.
