Q: Why did Zophar not give a third speech?

Zophar only has two speeches recorded. By the third round, the friends' arguments had run out. Bildad's third speech is very short, and Zophar is silent. Their theology couldn't answer Job's questions, so they had nothing left to say.

Zophar the Naamathite was the youngest and harshest of Job's three friends. He spoke only twice but was blunt in accusing Job of sin. He emphasized God's unfathomable wisdom and urged Job to repent. God later rebuked all three friends for not speaking rightly.

Speaking for God Wrongly

Zophar claimed to speak God's truth but was actually misrepresenting God's character. He assumed secret sins explained everything. When we claim to speak for God, we must be careful not to put words in His mouth or reduce His mysteries to simple formulas.
