Bethuel was the youngest son of Nahor and Milcah, and the father of Rebekah and Laban. He appears barely at all in his own story: when Abraham's servant asked for Rebekah, it was Laban who spoke first, and Bethuel who agreed. The line of the promise ran through his daughter.
