Biblical Significance of En-dor

En-dor is the last night of a reign. Saul had enforced the law against mediums himself, and he breaks it only when heaven has gone silent; the account is less about the woman than about a king who would rather hear a terrible answer than none. What he is told changes nothing and spares nothing. By the next evening the word had been kept.
